LOCHIA-
IT is a vaginal discharge of first fortnight during puerperium..
This discharge originate from the uterine body, cervix and vagina
TYPES of LOCHIA
Depending upon color lochia is 3 types
1.Lochia rubra - Red (1-4 days)
2.Lochia serosa - yellowish pink (5-9days)
3. Lochia alba - pale white (10 - 15days)
*LOCHIA RUBRA -
IT is consists of
Blood, shreds of Fetal membrane and decidua, vernix caseosa, lanugo, Meconium
*LOCHIA SEROSA -
IT is consists of less RBC but more leucocytes, wound exudates, mucus from cervix, microorganism like streptococci, staphylococci
*LOCHIA ALBA -
IT is consists of plenty of decidual cells, leucocytes, mucus, cholestrin crystal, fatty and granular epithelial cells, microorganism
